8 Tips For A Successful TikTok Shop

TikTok is one of the fastest-growing social platforms, with over 1 billion users worldwide and growing. TikTok Shopping adds additional opportunities for businesses to market and sell on TikTok. We share our 8 tips for a successful TikTok shop:

1. You need to have a TikTok for Business account to set up TikTok Shopping. TikTok is now available in most countries, and as well as catering for Shopify retailers, TikTok has now developed apps for retailers on other platforms.

2. As you can see from Perl Cosmetics profile page (here’s our IG post for you to view the example), you can view a selection of products for sale if you tap on the middle tab with the icon of a shopping bag. Perl Cosmetics is a brilliant example of using yourself or a content creator as the face of the business to drive sales.

3. Once you hit 1k followers, you can start going LIVE. This way, you can refer to products in your videos, and your viewers can click through the tagged products to learn more about them.

4. Ensure your product pictures are as clean and clear as possible. These should be recognisably yours, not random photos. Keep product titles under 34 characters so they remain fully visible.

5. Review your TikTok bio. Use this space to provide accurate information about your brand and your services. Pro Tip: include keywords to improve your SEO.

6. Use your captions and CTA’s in your posts. Inform your audience they can shop directly from the app and include correct links & tags to your store.

7. You need to be speaking to your audience as well and not just here to ‘sell sell sell’ especially when you’re speaking to the digital-savvy Gen Z’s. Make sure your content has a strong strategy which includes jumping on the right trends, audios and using correct hashtags.

8. Influencer marketing remains one of the most successful ways to market on TikTok. Influencer Marketing Hub recently highlighted 13 successful case studies of influencer marketing on TikTok. One of these is America’s largest bricks-and-mortar retailer, Walmart, who you might think would follow more traditional paths with its marketing.
